2021 Fiadh Vineyard - Pinot Noir
Anderson Valley
"Fiadh" is an Irish girl's named meaning "wild" and "untamed," very much like this small Pinot Noir vineyard on a hillside in Anderson Valley. The 2021 vintage fermented spontaneously on native yeast with all whole clusters over twelve days and completed malolactic fermentation naturally in barrel, then aged twelve months in French oak barrels, 50% new. We performed one racking to stainless steel prior to bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
The palate is a blend of wild forest notes -- mushrooms, creosote, damp earth -- and elegant perfumes -- graphite, vanilla, and musk. Approachable now, the wine will not fully reveal its complexity until 2025 or 2026 and should drink well for a decade.
Bottled by hand at the winery.
Sustainably farmed (transitioning-organic non-certified).
