2016 Reserve Blanc
The 2016 Reserve Blanc is an uninoculated and skin-fermented version of its younger sibling, and is slightly more concentrated, subtle, and voluptuous than the regular bottling. A slightly darker shade of gold, this wine fermented and aged in one new French oak barrel for twenty months, with a light filtration, solely for clarity, prior to bottling (the wine is unfined). Notes of lemon-lime, lemon sourpatch candy and matchstick emerge from the glass -- it has the potential to cellar for many more years -- and then give way to canned pear, acacia, candied pecan and vanilla bean. A medium-bodied Sauvignon, the mid-palate is full without being striking or dense, and we love the notes of cedar and clove on the delicate finish. Enjoy now, and return to this wine between 2021-2023.
