2010 Merlot Magnum

Our first vintage of Merlot is available this season from Magnum as a part of the Membership release. This low-yielding clone 181 Merlot from Jaeger Vineyard on Big Ranch Road in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley was harvested October 4 by hand, at dawn. We performed a vigorous sort and fermented the must in a stainless steel, temperature controlled tank for 17 days followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Twenty months in French and American oak barrels, 60% new, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. 178 cases produced.

Tasting Notes -- This husky and luscious Merlot has notes of ripe red currants with briar, a touch of vanilla and raspberry jam and mint.
